Have you considered the multitude of wallpaper choices that add to your decor? I will share a few but won’t bore you with an endless list.

Wallpaper of varying designs and colors are a hit. This can include scenery that shows beautiful floral choices or even abstract patterns in the colors of your theme.

 

You can design your baby girl’s room decor to have the overall theme show up in the wallpaper you choose. Perhaps you could use a wall border, along with a complementary color of wall paint, to accent your chosen baby room theme.

Decor ideas can include, but not be limited to: art, the beach with its seagulls, dogs, cats, mermaids, cartoons, unicorns, fairy tales, princess-theme, beautiful sunsets or colorful rainbows. What about flowers, trees, nature’s wild kingdom, selfie wallpaper that is customized, the twinkling stars of the night, all of which can generate exciting decor ideas to finish off a coordinated look.

To go with the wallpaper, you might choose different mirror ideas, shelving, artwork, picture frames, or baskets to hold toys and stuffed animals. Of course, there are the ever-popular mobiles that please all baby girls.

Baby Decor Using Stickers And Murals

You can also choose to hang wall murals that are mass-produced or you can have them customized. The choices even include stencils for murals that are “paint by number” so that you can create your own design. As mentioned, a great alternative for your decor is the use of stencils. This is another “go-to” idea for a baby girl’s nursery. You can have a great time decorating her room with a stencil theme highlighted with additional color-filled decor.

If you are like many parents, a budget is always a consideration. Stencils look great and they are less expensive than wallpaper.
I suggest checking around to find stencils that have an up-to-date (contemporary or modern) look. So many are now extremely easy to use and there are a plethora of design possibilities.

Some other possibilities might include light switches with cute stickers that add frivolity, or perhaps arrangements of colorful butterfly stickers on the wall.

Vinyl removable stickers are incredibly popular and available by the thousands. You choose stickers that go along with your theme and then “peel and stick” wherever you want the accent. These can later be removed and re-positioned or changed completely as your child grows.

Choices include chalkboard stickers that could be used to create decor with meaningful words or phrases or personalized wall stickers with the baby’s name or initials or different items that go along with your theme (such as a flower mural with your baby’s name in it.)

Cartoon characters and even enlarged selfie pictures are incredibly popular. Fortunately, they even make a wallpaper that is also “peel and stick”. This makes the decorating project so much easier! You really can expand your creative skills and design many decor ideas. The sky is the limit.

Go ahead. Indulge. This can be super fun even if you’ve never done it before. If you’re a creative person and want to put your personal touch on the final outcome, then go for it!

Additional Baby Decor Ideas For A Girl

1. Themes and decor about baby dolls are always a popular “girl” idea that can transition into a lot of fun and creativeness.

 

2. Animals such as cute lions, bears, pandas, giraffes, bunnies, and squirrels.  This decor could be lifelike or animated.

3. How about boats such as canoes, sail, or other types that would be cute in a baby decor concept? For girls? You bet.

4. Remember “Rubber Duckies”? How about ducks, geese, swans, and other aquatic animals that live above water?

5. In doubt? Go to the library or book store. Gravitate to the children’s storybooks. Ideas will pop out as quick as a wink.

 

6. Balloons (not real). A terrific decor idea. This could include, perhaps, a colorful circus background with a carousel, etc.

In simple terms, the decor is nothing more than how a room is decorated. I’ve shared some basic ideas. Let’s review some important points.

In order to create a one-of-a-kind space for your baby boy, there are several areas to consider in the process of making the room design a cohesive one. You will want to decide on an overall decorating theme and then choose paint colors and furniture style. Once these decisions have been made, it’s time for choosing coordinating baby decor and accessories!

This can be hugely enjoyable for the parent(s). It’s like being a kid again with the excitement of getting something new. Remember what is often referred to as our “child within”? Go with it and have fun! Enjoy this opportunity to spoil your newborn boy with gender-unique baby decor that also makes you happy.

Considerations For Your Boy

As we all know, our babies are always the cutest and we find ourselves picking equally special decor and accessories for our unique bundles of joy. Keep in mind that your theme and baby decor will usually take you through the first couple of years of your baby’s life so you want to make choices accordingly. Choose items that are age-appropriate but can still “grow” along with the baby.

Sports Theme Baby Decor

There’s always a sport that can be a catalyst for a theme. The first that comes to mind for a boy is some type of BALL – baseball, soccer, basketball, or football, for example. You might consider painting one wall to mimic the ball of the sport you’ve chosen and using an area rug that matches the sport.

Additional decor could include artwork with a football idea. How about pictures of famous characters in uniforms? Perhaps having a photo of your baby in a sports outfit? Cute as can be and wonderful memories as he grows. These could be hung, along with other decor items that coordinate with the pictures. For instance a baseball glove, hat, or ball. Maybe even a jersey of a favorite team or other memorabilia.

Planes, Trains, and Car Decor

No matter the age, it’s a “Guy Thing”. Planes, trains, or cars are one surefire theme for a boy. Toy model trains or cars can be displayed on shelves that you’ve hung or a colorful model airplane can be strung to hang above the crib, high enough to be out of baby’s reach. Other safe baby toys can be displayed on his dresser or chest of drawers. These can be hard or soft toys. No “girly” stuff for the little guy. We’ll save the “girly” stuff for another article.

Nature Theme Decor

How about an outdoor look? Perhaps if you are artistic, you can paint a wall mural. If not, look at wallpaper or wall decals as an option. To complement this theme, you could include framed colorful nature pictures, a rustic-looking lamp, and accessories such as cuddly stuffed rabbits or other animals he can interact with. A soft area rug in an “earthy” tone can pull everything together.

Perhaps you will spin off the nature idea to incorporate an animal theme. Which animal catches your attention the most? There could be numerous possibilities including the obvious cats and dogs, bears, birds, African animals such as giraffes or elephants, and many others. These choices could be highlighted in wallpaper, lamps, bedding sets, or rugs.

Alphabet/Numbers

How about using the letters of the alphabet and numbers in primary colors? ABC blocks in bright colors on a shelf or hanging on the wall. A rug with large numbers in red, green, blue, and yellow.

Borrowing from pages in alphabet or number books for babies might introduce “A is for apple, B is for ball,” etc. in framed artwork. This theme, complemented by baby decor, might encourage early learning as your child goes from infant to toddler. Let your imagination be your guide as you explore all the possibilities.

Cartoon Characters

A cartoon theme for the youngster is a very hot item. There are a plethora of options. What about centering your room decor around a favorite character?

Paint a brightly-colored mural on one wall and then match other items for the room either to the theme or the colors in the mural. Perhaps you can even find a mobile to hang over the crib that goes along with the theme or colors. When the baby is in the crib, he can be entertained by the mural and mobile.

Theme-related accessories might include a lamp with the characters on the base or lampshade, a shelf full of resin models of the characters, or bedding that features them.

Accessories With Baby Decor

Now that you’ve worked through all the choices listed above, it is time to accessorize! Add a splash of color, something that will bring “comfort” to the baby (or you) – look for things that accent what you have already chosen.

Of course, there comes the choice of bedding and the playful combination of colors. This might include a complete bedding set with pillows that are safe for children. Some parents choose to avoid pillows, which does have merit due to the safety hazards of having anything in the crib with an infant.

Other considerations are curtains to match your chosen bedroom colors or theme, and lamps placed safely away from the baby’s curious mind and little hands. If you have a rocker in the room, be sure to choose a theme- or color-coordinated seat cushion that is thick enough to withstand those long nights when you are rocking your baby to sleep!

Next is the choice of super-soft, “fluffy” area rugs that your bundle of joy can play on under your watchful eye. This allows a great fun time in an area bigger than his crib.

Your purchase of wall hangings (pictures, art, quilt squares, etc.) can be a wonderful addition to the theme you have chosen.

Also consider self-framed photos of the little one with parent(s), with sisters and brothers, and other relatives. These can be hung on the wall mixed in with purchased art. The list, with coordinating styles to match the theme, could be as endless as your imagination.

Thinking of items that hang, we all know babies love movement, color, and music. You just can’t pass up that very special mobile to hang above the crib. The coos, laughter, and smiles will soon follow.

Accessories to your baby decor for boys should include delightful stuffed animals. There are so many varieties, you should be able to easily find something to fit in with the theme you have chosen for the baby’s bedroom. These can be set on top of dressers or placed on wall shelves. If you have several of them, they could also be displayed in a basket near the crib.

Cribs That Are Considered Expensive/High-end

Although a number of expensive/ high-end cribs come from countries outside the United States, some of the finest quality cribs are found in the US. These are crafted and finished by hand.

They can even be manufactured to go along with other furniture in the baby’s room with painted details. You pick a shape or design and it can be done. However, be careful about safety rules.

Cribs That Are Priced In The Mid-range

Parents love quality cribs which tend to fall in the mid-range pricing options. The products are stronger than economy cribs. They are a little fancier and come in a great selection of wood and painted stains.

The wood itself is heavier, and thicker, which adds to its durability. Because of the overall stronger structure, stability is nothing parents have to worry about. These cribs can often be converted to other sizes as well.

Cribs In The Economy Range

They can be a choice and a must for some budgets, so the quality is still passable. Because these cribs are less expensive, then something has to give. The materials used and how the product is designed create a less-expensive investment for the manufacturers. The product isn’t nearly as heavy. However, if it’s sturdy, which most are, you’ll be fine.

Is Your Baby’s Crib Safe?

We have enjoyed a cradle over many years but it is used now only as a decorative addition. Built by my wife’s brother, it was perfect for the time. That is no longer the case. Times have changed. Thank heaven.

Strict rules on safety make your purchase and use of a crib much improved for your little ones. You can now feel much more comfortable that your baby will have a great sleeping environment.

I would not recommend using any old or even gently-used crib. This includes extremely attractive antique styles that look so cute and inviting to the eye. That’s a no-no, just like old bassinets. All sorts of parts that were meant for stability and safety could have broken or come off. I don’t imagine you want to see your baby falling out and potentially being severely hurt.

As you are aware, there have been many infant deaths due to unsafe cribs. That’s why the stringent safety rules were put in place for manufacturers and why I recommend to only purchase new ones.

Lead paint was used on baby furniture in the past and children chewed on these items causing many physical problems. If you are using an old crib that has been painted, you really need to be sure none of the paint is missing. Actually, just don’t use them is my best advice.

You might get thrilled about getting a great deal, price-wise, at a flea market, for a crib. Trust me, it’s not a great deal for your baby.

Drop-side rails are dangerous. If you have a crib with this type of rails, don’t use it. When possible, buy a new crib without them. Regulations have been put in place in the U.S., but some overseas companies still make them. Statistics show over 30 baby deaths were contributed to drop-side rails. This has happened over approximately the last eight to eleven years.

Baby Crib Furniture Coordinates

First, you’ve measured the baby room. Then you chose the right crib for the available space. Next comes your decision of coordinating furniture. You will need the convenience of a changing table.

A chest of drawers, and even a dresser, are great additions, especially
if you have the room. If you’re limited on space, you can even purchase
cribs with drawers underneath. Make sure the bottoms of the drawers are very sturdy, not cardboard. A one-quarter inch thick fiberboard could be much sturdier.

Obviously, many parents are considering having more than one child. With this in mind, a quality purchase that can be used by more than one baby can save money in the long run.

Also, a crib that can turn into a daybed as the child gets older affords a great opportunity for longer use. This is a great baby crib furniture option.
